Photovoice Project Seeking Participants
At our last meeting, group members endorsed a photovoice project with the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. Photovoice is a participatory-action research approach, where participants document their health needs through photography. No, you don't need to be a photographer, and yes, everything you need to participate will be provided to you. At the end of the project, the resulting images and ideas will help the Health Initiative pursue its goal of health care equality with visual imagery, something that could be incredibly useful to our advocacy. Here are a few things you should know:
- There will be 3 project meetings over the next 2 months to plan, implement, and assess the project;
- Food and drinks provided will be provided for every meeting;
- Participants will be given all materials including cameras and journals; and
- Participants will receive a $20 gift certificate for their time and effort.
The first meeting will be held very soon, so please respond ASAP.
